Serves: 48 cookies


  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup Daisy Sour Cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 5 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


Cream the sugar and shortening together in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well blended. Chill the dough for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight. Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface or between layers or parchment paper and cut with cookie cutters. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Allow cookies to cool completely before frosting and decorating.

Since my family is small I made half a batch of this cookie dough and I used butter instead of shortening. The cookies turned out soft and delicious. My little man loved making them with me. These make a perfect Holiday treat (Even if you don't frost them!) I tested Daisy Squeeze Sour Cream courtesy of Daisy and Influenster for review purposes.

This is by far my favorite sugar cookie recipe! They are so moist and soft with the added sour cream. Everyone is always asking for the recipe!
