Ingredients
-
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
-
2 teaspoons baking powder
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
-
4 tablespoons butter
-
1 cup sugar
-
1/2 cup raisins
-
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
-
1 egg
-
1 cup Daisy Brand Sour Cream
-
4 teaspoons lemon juice
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. In a small bowl combine 3/4 cup sugar, raisins, and orange peel. Stir into flour mixture. In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, egg yolk, and lemon juice. Stir into flour mixture. The mixture will be dry. Knead about 5-8 times to combine all ingredients. Divide dough in half, patting each half into a 6" circle. Place both on a greased cookie sheet. Cut each into 6 wedges. In a small bowl, beat egg white until frothy. Brush each of the scone pieces with egg white, and sprinkle with 3 tablespoons sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.
