Mocha-Frosted Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter
divided use

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups unsifted cake flour

1 1/2 cups Daisy Brand Sour Cream

2 squares melted chocolate

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

2 cups brewed black coffee
enough for spreading consistency
Directions
Batter: Cream 1/2 cup butter and sugar together. Add eggs, salt, baking soda, flour and sour cream to sugar mixture. Mix 7 minutes at low speed. Add melted chocolate and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour into 9x13-inch greased pan dusted with flour. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Let cool. Frosting: Cream 1/4 cup butter with powdered sugar. Add cocoa and 1 teaspoon vanilla to frostings. Add enough black coffee for spreading consistency. Frost cake with icing after cake has cooled. Add chopped nuts on top, if desired.
