1 3/8 cups cake flour

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 stick butter

3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup Daisy Brand Sour Cream
+2 tablespoons

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring

1 splash milk

1/3 cup sliced toasted almonds
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan; set aside. Batter: Mix flour with salt and soda. In a separate bowl, cream 1/2 cup butter and sugar. Add eggs to the creamed mixture one at a time, beating after each addition. Add 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, then add flour mixture to the creamed mixture. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes, until golden brown or until cake begins to shrink from the sides of the pan. Remove to wire rack to cool before icing. Icing: Mix 2 1/2 tablespoons butter, powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons sour cream, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, almond extract, and splash of milk, with an electric mixer. Add sliced almonds to icing and blend. Frost sides and top, garnish as desired.
